New Jersey Symphony Orchestra - Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Xian Zhang

Why see New Jersey Symphony Orchestra - Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Xian Zhang?

Beethoven et al

A stunning evening of classical music is headed to the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra this spring, with the groundbreaking conductor Xian Zhang taking the helm. The orchestra will perform a trio of works, Tchaikovsky's Polonaise, Billy Childs Saxophone Concerto (which was inspired by poet Maya Angelou), and culminating in Beethoven's joyous Symphony No. 9. Acclaimed saxophonist Steven Banks will also make an appearance, making this a night to be remembered!

Grammy Award winning Zhang's first foray as a conductor was for the China National Opera Orchestra at the age of nineteen. Since then, she has continued to break down doors in the classical world, becoming the first female music director in Italy's Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, and the NJSO. She was also the first female principal guest conductor for the BBC and at their annual Proms.
