A Program Celebrating African American Music & Dance

Groundbreaking multi-disciplinary dance company Forces Of Nature Dance Theater blur the lines between hip hop, jazz, ballet and the ritualistic forms of traditional West African movement, encompassing the past, present and future of Afro-American dance. Led by founder, resident director and iconic choreographer Abel R. Salaam, the ensemble's dancers and drummers will join forces with renowned musical collective Honey In The Rock for an illuminating program of fierce, fiery and theatrical dance.

Breaking ground of their own, all-female a capella group Sweet Honey In The Rock has garnered three Grammy nominations for their exploration of the African American experience, culture and history through the lens of womanhood. Their soaring five-part harmonies are augmented by a sign-language interpreter, who signs the song's emotional and lyrical content whilst the rest cleverly replicate the sounds of an orchestra with just their voices.
